From a public school art teacher to a hula hoop artist and instructor. She performs she creates videos and art she gives her time and talent to charity and so much more. FLiP Magazine is proud to introduce you to Katie Sunshine. FM Hello Katie. Can you please tell us a bit about yourself Im an Arkansas girl born and raised. I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in studio art and I taught public school art for several years. Recently however I quit teaching to pursue hooping and painting full time. Its been a dream come true. Besides painting and hooping I love animals I love to travel I love going to music festivals and doing any activity outdoors. FM How did you first become interested in the art of hooping I was at a music festival in Ozark AR when I saw my first hula hoop girl. I saw this beautiful girl dancing and spinning to the music with her hoop and I was totally mesmerized I found I wasnt even watching the concert anymore I was just staring at her hula hooping. I decided then and there that I would love to be able to do that. So I bought a hoop started practicing and the rest is history 7 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 FM You are quite skilled at hooping as seen in your videos and photos. How long did it take you to master your first ever routine Has that learning curve changed now when you make your new routines Well for a long time I never created hoop routines. I did all my performances spontaneously just improvising my moves to whatever felt right. I had been hooping for almost a year however until I was really comfortable doing this. Going with the flow is still my favorite style of hooping but when I decided to start performing professionally I also decided to create specific routines. Now when Im working on a new routine I think about what tricks I want to showcase what music Ill be dancing to what audience will be watching the routine and what theme I want to come across in the performance. Its a lot of work but its fun FM What advice do you offer to someone who has never hooped before My advice is to give it a try You never know how much you like something until you try it. Its a great way to be active and stay in shape and its fun Also I would say not to get discouraged if you cant master the tricks right away. It takes a lot of practice and dedication to learn new moves it doesnt happen automatically. FM And hooping is good for exercise as well I always talk about how hooping is such a great way to stay in shape. I also teach a weekly workout class utilizing hooping as its main exercise tool. Its a great way to stay in shape FM I see that you recently went to Haiti with Hoops for Haiti 2015. Can you please describe what this charity is and how you got connected with them I volunteer with an organization Ozark Water Projects that travels the world and provides clean drinking water to impoverished people www.ozarkwaterprojects.org. They were already planning the trip to Haiti to dig a well when I joined theirteam. Hoops for Haiti was my own personal campaign I launched to raise money to cover my airline ticket my lodging and the supplies to make hula hoops so I could go with them to Haiti but not take any money away from their charity. Fortunately thanks to many generous donors I raised enough money to go and take 34 hula hoops with me. When we were there we were repairing hand pumps around Port Au Prince and then we dug a well in a village called Turbe. While the crew worked on digging the well I passed out hoops to the kids and adults who gathered. I played with them performed for them taught them some of my tricks and then of course I left all my hula hoops for them when I left. The access to clean water will help them survive and improve the quality of life and the hula hoops put a little joy in their hearts and a smile on their faces. See Katies blog where she describes the entire trip in a lot more detailhttpwww.katiesunshinehoops.comHoops-for- Haiti-2015c1glv552186aa0cf21933cd3aa7ec 8 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 FM What was your biggest take-away from doing Hoops for Haiti 2015 My biggest take away was certainly to be grateful for what I have and to cherish each day. I saw people who had so little but instead of being bitter or disenchanted by their lot in life were so grateful for what they had. It definitely keeps things in perspective. FM You use your hooping skills to create artwork. What inspired you to put paint into a hula hoop Ive always loved to draw and paint even before I started hula hooping and I knew I wanted to do something to combine those two passions. I actually had a fan suggest I made a video against a white background hooping while someone threw paint on me. That got my wheels spinning about how to combine painting and hooping and pretty soon I got the idea for the paint hoop. FM What has been the response from the public and your fans to your hooping art videos etc. Well everyone has their opinions of my painting and my hooping and it pretty much runs the gamutof hatred andloathing to love and adoration Quite honestly though I have some really wonderful fans who are supportive encouraging tell me how Ive inspired them and are continually uplifting to my spirit. There are certainly more of the supportive fans out there than the mean nay-sayers. FM Your website mentions that you aim to inspire more people to learn about and try hooping. What do you consider being successful at that goal to look like I try to not only introduce people to hooping by performing and showing them what I do but also to encourage them to try it out. Whenever I do a live performance I always take extra hoops for anyone who wants to try one. I also teach classes in my hometown thereby motivating more people to try it out and stick with it. Finally as with my Hoops for Haiti campaign I try to take hoops to people who might not have much but would really enjoy the simple joy of a hula hoop. Hicks 10 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 When I first was introduced to singer-songwriter Christie Huffs music I felt a bit overwhelmed by the depth and wisdom that streamed from not only her voice but also the lyrics of such a young talent. Barely out of her teens Huffs voice is well beyond her years. There is a maturity depth and richness to her a voice that drives each note. With equal doses of blues and folk she finds a perfect spot in the genre of country music. But in truth her style and sound manages to lend itself to a much wider audience. Though some might consider her country-pop there is a soul to her work and words that feels leaps and bounds away from todays repetitive pop music. Christie Huff is an artist. Her voice and lyrics combined are reminiscent of the greats such as Joni Mitchell Linda Ronstadt or maybe even Dolly Parton. As I said Huff does not neatly fit into a particular category. The more I listened to Huffs music the more I found myself turning to my mothers old Linda Ronstadt records. Something about the depth and power of these two womens voices seemed to echo a similar desire to sing to express and to pull at an audiences heart - much more than many other musicians. There is ease to Huffs voice that implies she was indeed born to sing. Initially Huffs voice seems rather contradictory to her friendly light and bubbly personality. Raised mostly in Mesa Arizona Huff is the third child of Terry and Lisa Huff. Along with her three sisters Christie Huff enjoyed a simple and wholesome upbringing. Her parents were both exceptionally supportive from the start and nurtured each of their four daughters various gifts and talents. Throughout her early school years Huff struggled to keep up with her older sisters who excelled academically. As they excelled Christie struggled. After learning that she was dyslexic Huff searched for solace from the widening gap between herself and her schoolmates. As she watched her oldest sister excel and attend Duke University Huff took a hard look at her own talents and wondered where she could excel. She had a deep desire to be known as something other than the girl with a learning disability when music came into her life and quickly began to change her destiny. Finding confidence and acceptance through music Huff and others began to recognize her gifts as a musician and a songwriter. Now Huff looks at her learning disability as something that has helped her to excel rather than preventing her success. Dyslexia has kind of driven me in the direction of music and why I do it she now 11 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 states. When school was challenging the drive to succeed remained intact. In times of struggle and stress Huff continued to find her solace in music and as she did her musical ability seemed to grow along with the desire to pursue it. During her junior year of high school Huffs vocal coach encouraged her to begin to write her own music noting the importance of songwriting and musicianship that is required in todays market. As the end of her high school career neared Huff took that advice to heart and began to take guitar lessons. Soon after she wrote her first song entitled Soldier Song. This first song hit a nerve almost immediately as the timely song was inspired by a story told to Huff about a young wife saying goodbye to her husband just before he left for a tour of duty in Afghanistan. The music video associated with Soldier Song was an official selection at the 2014 GI Film Festival in Washington DC. The lyrics to Soldier Song are inspired and would seem to be written by one far older and wiser in years. As I interviewed Christie Huff I was eager to find out from where the root of such depth came. Certainly struggling with a learning disability can make a person grow in character and compassion beyond their peers but perhaps there was something more to Huffs story. Indeed there was. Songwriters musicians and artists often by nature have a hint of sadness sorrow or tragedy somewhere in their past that seems to ignite the fire of creativity and a drive to express feelings whether they recognize it or not. In Huffs case when she was nine years old Christie and her family found themselves in the midst of a battle all too familiar in our world and yet completely new to them. Though it happened over a decade ago Christie Huff now remembers quite clearly the day she learned her mother was battling breast cancer. My Dad picked us up from school and they were like well we have something to tell you. You know something was offso okay we knew something was going Susannah C. Hicks is a Los Angeles based writer. Hicks has written for numerous entertainment and non-profit companies including SAVN.tv. In 2014 Hicks hour-long teleplay The Summers Sisters was filmed on location in Charlotte North Carolina. Currently Hicks is working to complete her first full length play Trite and has several other pilots and a book of essays in development. on. And they said mom felt a lump in her breast we went to the doctor and got it checked out and she has breast cancer. Whenever I heard cancer I thought oh gosh my moms going to die. I didnt know what to expect I was so young I dont think I really comprehended the effects. Looking back Huff is rightfully stunned by how well she and her younger sister dealt with the transformation of their mother as she underwent treatment and chemotherapy. Huff her mother and her younger sister traveled with a caretaker to California while her mother received treatment. For any child watching her mother battle cancer is a life-altering experience. Some children when faced with the possibility of death of a parent and the recognition of the uncertain nature of life live in great fear. Others appear to become rather fearless. It seems that for Huff fearlessness was ignited. Watching what her mother struggled through as she desired to be there for her family watching her fight for her life and watching her recover instilled the truth in Huff that one can overcome. In fact at times the impossible is very possible. Currently Christie Huff is living out an impossible dream which is turning out to be quite possible. Huff hopes her music inspires people to love and to live in the knowledge that one can overcome even when they feel they are only hanging on by a thread. It does indeed get better. To date Huff has recorded two albums in Nashville and is now in the middle of recording a third in Los Angeles. Piloxing Every person I tell that I am going to take this workout class the response is the same they repeat the class name back to me with a question mark. Piloxing What the heck is Piloxing This workout class is the brainchild of Viveca Jensen a former ballerina and boxer turned Master Pilates trainer. The name sounds funny but it is no joke how it can whip you into shape The class was created in Jensens studio in Los Angeles California but in the past five years has spread like wildfire to over 50 countries across the globe. The class incorporates Jensens past and present passion for Pilates boxing and dance. These three things do not seem to go together and yet when combined create something fun powerful and effective. When I walk into the Piloxing studio it is a mix of modern clean lines and femininity. The minimalist lobby somehow still intimidates me with the amount of pink girly spandex-y things think Piloxing nail polish undies hats stretchy pants emblazoned with the Piloxing logo body skimming neon-bright tank tops but the clean almost sparse spa-like atmosphere of the rest of the studio is a nice counterbalance. And that is also how to describe the class - girly but modern hip and a little tough. Viveca Jensen is a breath of fresh air and her energy is infectious. You can find articles and pictures of Jensen online and in various publications yet none of them really do her justice. Her personality makes her even more beautiful than her pictures and speaking with her makes you want to be her friend. She connects so well with everyone in the class you feel like the most important person in the room It would seem that the people who are attracted to teaching it are as personable and pretty as Jensen. It is almost as though it is a requirement for the instructors to have fun vibrant make- you-want-to-be-like-them energy. I guess the saying is true like attracts like Women in the class range from early 20s to 50s and Jensen says this class is great for people as young as 16 and as old as 75 The students also vary drastically in size shape and athletic ability. The class is all women but Jensen says occasionally a brave man will venture into the class. Most of the women in the class myself included are wearing hot pink weighted gloves. Each glove only weighs a half of a pound but let me tell you they start to feel heavier as the class progresses and your fists are pretending to punch that guy who cut you off in traffic earlier And then your ex- boyfriend your boss the parking meter that ate your quarters and that stupid cupcake that tempted you at lunch The choreography is fun and fairly easy to follow even for those of us with bricks where our feet should be. High energy fun popular music pumps through the speakers during this full body workout. I have to say I do not look particularly graceful in class. I am not a dancer or a boxer and if you look down you might Born and raised in Houston Texas and a graduate of New York University Joanna Kelly now resides in Los Angeles where she works as an actress model and writer. There were women in the class I looked over at and thought Ill never look as lithe and fit as her The women that are regulars look like lean mean Piloxing machines Conversely I must have looked like a monkey who lost her banana. Like I could have starred in the show So You Think You Cant Dance. Like nobody puts Baby in a corner but maybe in my case they should. Despite my awkwardness I discovered I had a giant goofy grin plastered across my face. When Jensen asked us how we were doing Woohoo flew unabashedly out of my mouth. For the first time in my life I found myself not wanting the workout class to end It was fun and just the right amount of challenging. It was easy to modify for injuries and take things at your own pace. If your arms are tired dont jab with as much force. Your knees are sensitive Walk instead of jump. You want a little more Think of something or someone that pissed you off and let em have it There are dozens of success stories of women losing weight and toning up some that have lost over 100 pounds just doing Piloxing three times a week. But the most impactful story is a student who is battling Multiple Sclerosis who has increased mobility and function because of Piloxing 3-4 times per week. Viveca Jensen is changing lives There are naysayers that say that this isnt real Pilates or real boxing. Well it isnt It isnt Pilates or Boxing it is PILOXING. As Jensen says it works because it comes from a place of truth. The base is real she took the three things that are her passions and put them together to create something that really works Piloxing classes are happening right now at gyms and studios all across the US and the world plus you can do it from the comfort of your own home with the Piloxing DVD set. It may not be a top tourist destination for Americansyetbut it will be. And here is why Ecuador is very U.S. Traveler Friendly Electricity is U.S. Standard As any international traveler knows bringing plug adaptors and power converters around with you can be a hassle. They are bulky and take up valuable souvenir space in your luggage. Luckily Ecuador plugs and voltage are both on US standard which means there is no need for any adaptors or converters at all. However most of the plugs are only two-prong with no By Alexis Monahan Reasons You Should Travel to Ecuador 16 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 grounding plug so if your electronic is three-prong you may need an adaptor for that reason only. Ecuador is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone The mainland of all of Ecuador is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. That means no jet lag or re-setting watches for anyone traveling from the East Coast Ecuadors currency is the U.S. Dollar Imagine my surprise when I decided to travel to Ecuador this winter and learned that I wouldnt need to exchange any currency. Ecuador has used the US Dollar as its currency since 2000. This makes it incredibly handy for American travelers as you dont need to lose anything in currency exchange and there is no need to figure out a bunch of new coins and their values. Bonus ATMs are easily accessed in most of the major cities but outside of the cities bank machines can be hard to find so be sure to budget enough money on hand for your travels. Most ATMs limit you to a 100 withdrawal a day but a few can go as high as 400 a day. Just be sure to let your bank know you will be traveling so they dont fraud alert your account. There is nothing worse then your card not working when you need cash. Another perk of the same currency no exchange fees for your credit card purchases. As with your ATM card be sure to let your bank know you will be traveling. Prices in Ecuador are Easy on the Wallet As a developing country Ecuadors prices are a relief for travelers. You can get a pint of local cerveza beer for 1 in many bars. You can go to the spa and get a half-day at a local spa mud wrap sauna box and hot stone massage for 50. Cabs to get around town are plentiful and cheap 5 or less to get to the other side of the city. You can find a nice shared room at a hostel for around 15 a night and a nice twin share hotel room for around 50 a night. And dont forget to haggle at the local markets for even better deals on some beautifully handmade textiles leathers and other great gifts. Lots of Activities to Enjoy Ecuador has something to offer for anyone and everyone. Ecuador has a long and colorful history. Good for those looking to learn about the Mayans the Spanish conquistadors or Ecuadors modern history. There is plenty to explore and Ecuador is very proud of its history and loves to share it with tourists. You will notice most streets are named after important historical dates or historical figures so just look up and absorb. For those seeking adventure sports Ecuador is the place. To them not spending means gaining. However we are not talking here about financial gain but rather a spiritual one. To give to share to help to assist to care to inspire to educate to donate means to receive a pleasure with no price tag. In the process of giving one witnesses the result it delivers in someone elses life that is often expressed through happiness and life changes. Author Erma Bombeck said it best When I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say. I used everything you gave me. Life is a circle chain of emotions actions energy and communication. To give back means to show gratitude of the blessings you have received. When we give back we set an example for the receiver to do the same one day to someone else in need. There are many ways to give back to others such as financial emotional inspirational verbal and physically working for or with them. A good place to give back starts with helping each other and assisting the ones in need. Typically this starts with the closest people in our life such as family and then can slowly expand to bigger places and cover more people. There are numerous non-profit organizations that cover many different causes. Depending on your interest you can reach out to them and ask how you can help. Most of the time these non-profit organizations have an official website where they list their needs. These needs can be monetary or time commitment to volunteer and help around the center. Depending on the cause sometimes these organization can make a great use of your artistic talents. Often volunteers invest their time and talent in enriching somebody elses life with some happiness. Impactgiveback.org is a website that lists many nonprofit organizations. You can easily search through the list and find information about each one of them. However there are many new organizations that are not listed there and deserve the same attention and help. One of them is my own non-profit group Bechlem. You can find more information about their cause at www. bechlemstarcoropration.org. Bechlem is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire educate guide and enhance the lives of underprivileged children orphans abused poor and uneducated into becoming successful individuals making powerful choices. I believe that children are the future the seed and the individuals that we need to invest in the most. The beautiful bloom we see in the present society shows the careful investment we gave them in the past. The absence of results we see today with our adults reflects the negligence we gave them yesterday when they were our children. Most cities including downtown LosAngeles have a Monday mission day for the homeless where people come to volunteer and feed them. For more information on the LA mission visit losangelesmission.org. Non-profit organizations are increasing everyday. That is noble and also inspiring. The increase in non-profit associations shows an increase of selfless attitude people are embracing more and more every day to give back and provide help to others in need. It is important to note that it is crucial to thoroughly research the association you are interested to assist because many places have a bad reputation andor use the donation for their own selfish profit. Many people wait until they are ready to help give change and inspire. However the truth is that there is no time to wait. Studies have shown that there is a death every 15-20 minutes in the underprivileged community. There is no time to wait and be ready. She worried that if she didnt reach her ideal thin weight chances were she would never find a husband. First of all she looked fine to me but thats besides the point. I feel like the female race was abducted and sent back to earth with a chip implanted in their heads that said that skinny is the only acceptable size. And we slowly began to tumble as a human race when we the woman kind started following it blindly. By Devashree Shivadekar Body image How We Should Learn to Embrace Every Body Type 24 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 Devashree Shivadekar is a Los Angeles based screenwriter originally from Mumbai India. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai before flying to New York to pursue and successfully complete her Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting from the New York Film Academy. Devashree has been writing films and articles in Los Angeles for the last two years. If asked what men consider an ideal female most women would pick a size that is smaller than their own. Many psychologists have proved it wrong stating that men in fact do not prefer fashion model bodies. Allow me to get technical for a second because clearly this issue needs technicality squeezed into its wider more elaborate frame of cognizance. A womans weight depends on several factors including height fertility rate in relation to the age and body-mass indexI guess we dont need to get technical after all unless you actually cared about the statistics. Some women are naturally larger or smaller and sometimes there is only so much we can do about it. The point is - a distorted self-image perception still exists in females regardless of how they look. In every single datingmatrimonial website in the world they ask you to specify each and every detail of your physique height weight petite to morbidly obese eye color hair color and length skin color starting from fair to mud to wheatish to wheatish mud to mud fair to dark ivory to ivory charcoal to charcoal black to black black number of moles placement of your teeth proportion of your eyes in relation to your face and so on. Depending on that men can conveniently rule you out. Are the physical attributes that crucial We know they are not deep down no deep deep down but yet we all blindly chase after it. Being overweight is not trendy. I get that. Im also aware that weight is a serious issue. Trust me California where I live is probably one of the most weight-obsessed places in the world. Im not proposing putting morbidly obese actresses on the screen and proclaiming that being fat is healthy Im talking about a normal looking female to be perceived aswell normal. Watching a chubby female on camera is okay. Gents face it and move on. Ladies think about it ponder over it for a while discuss it with your female friends read books about it talk to your therapist beautician manicurist or whoever and then accept it. Do it today if you can Dont get me wrong Im all for healthy living. Eating right and exercising should be treated as medicine as much as a lifestyle. But I draw a line at starvation. Frankly is there even a visible difference between Size Zero and Size Three Do you really want to gorge on carrots and celery everyday so you can shed all your clothes and show the world that youve gorged on carrots and celery and thats it So men and women would gawk at your exposed body and admire its tolerance to famishment And dont pretend you are only doing it to stay healthy. Because staying healthy could be done by eating bread once in a while and because you really want to stay and look healthy and not because wait for it the script demanded it. But till then the question remains can we accept a plus-sized Bond girl Fat chance. 25 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 26 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 We would love to hear from you Send your reader questions and comments to editorflipmagazine.net and you cou could be in our next issue More than anything Laci Paige author of the Silken Edge Series enjoys spending time with her family. QA By Laci Paige Q Beach time is coming and I want that perfect looking tan but Im pale as a ghost. What do you suggest to protect my skin and still get a little color A. If you want to go the sunless route a safe tanning lotion or spray tan with a slight tint would be a good start. Anything too dark will be too drastic and then as the season goes you can darken the shade. Id be cautious of salon spray tans though you may inhale the fumes and many are not FDA approved. Then there are tanning beds which expose you to UV rays causing skin damage which also increases the chance of skin cancer. And lastly tanning pillswith prolong use they might turn skin orange can damage the liver and cause blurred vision. Regardless of which method you use when youre outside and your skin is exposed to the sun you still need sun lotion with an SPF. Having a darker skin tone does not protect it. If an outdoor suntan is what youre after always use sunscreen A suntan is actually your skins way of protecting itself from the harmful UV rays. With prolonged exposure it could increase the likelihood of cancerous cells growing. Always apply sunscreen before you go out and be sure to reapply every two hours or after swimming. And remember the sun is at its strongest between 10AM and 2PM. If you use an accelerant or oil be sure it has at least an SPF of 15 or greater. Enjoy your fun in the sun but be safe Q Sorry to go there but that time of month seriously messes me up. Moody is an understatement and I feel uncomfortable in my own skin and depressed all throughout my period. How can I make the cramping mood swings and sensitivity settle down A. Anyone who has lived through a rough menstrual cycle or anyone who has lived with someone going through it can honestly say its a rollercoaster of emotions. Its most likely due to the rise and fall of hormones. Fortunately there are a few things you can do to get through it Exercise helpful in delivering a boost of happy endorphins to your brain which might increase your energy and help with cramping. Aerobic exercises are your best bet. Eat healthy make wise food choices and eat smaller more frequent meals. By spreading them out you lessen your food bloat keep your sugar levels steady and as a result you might be able to keep your mood swings at bay. Steer clear of caffeine and alcohol as they can also affect the way you feel anywhere from anxious to depressed. Rest and relaxation Stress can make matters worse so get plenty of sleep and meditate if needed. A relaxed state of mind can go a long way in making your day go better. And go see your doctor if you are not coping well with your cycle they can suggest things or even prescribe you something if needed depending on your situation. 27 WWW.FLIPMAGAZINE.NETJUNE2015 Brunch is a great way to start theweekend.Itsusuallyserved between 9 AM to 2 PM but we can eat this all day long. Many religions and meditative traditions have customarily required that initiates refrain from sensual practices since there was widespread fear that such experiences would distract disciples from their spiritual responsibilities. These cultural influences taught us that as human-beings we should deny the animal drives within ourselves and strive to rise above the temptations of our primal natures. Some of us even grew up believing that what is down there is bad dirty or shameful rather than a natural part of our human anatomyand experience. These influences remnants of a puritanical society are still present in our culture today. Education in the art of sexuality is limited almost exclusively focused on the physical and tragically lacking a depth of understanding as to the value of a profoundly nurturing sexual relationship. As a result we are consistently receiving mixed messages that make having a truly liberated sex life difficult to the point that we all seem to struggle with feelings of disconnect and the desire for true fulfillment. Another byproduct of this history of oppression is that ancient practices like Tantra which celebrate the union of mind body and spirit have been pushed into the shadows or misinterpreted so as to focus almost exclusively on erotic components. While today we often hear Tantra and automatically think Tantric sex the true path of Tantra is less about having adventurous and exotic intercourse than it is about embracing every aspect of human experience as sacred and necessary. Tantra is not a religion it is an approach to life and an attitude towards living. Tantra asks us to celebrate being alive in this world in this body at this time in space. It asks us to connect with ourselves with others with nature and our experience of daily life so that each moment can be lived in ecstasy. Embracing Duality Tantra teaches us that sexuality suffering and even the dark side of existence are not actually bad but rather that all of life is a harmonious balance wherein opposing forces work together to create a whole and vibrant tapestry. Tantra maintains that the world and all of nature including human nature contains a perfect partnership of both feminine and masculine energy. These energies are not only complimentary but of equal importance and we all contain a unique combination of both. By understanding the dance of the masculine and feminine within ourselves and the world around us we are better able to enter into a profound relationship with our true nature and therefore find greater empowerment in our interactions with others and with life itself.
